Future City Competition Judges Needed!

The Great Plains Region of the 2021-2022 Future City Competition will be held on Saturday 1/29/2022 in Manhattan at Anthony Middle School. We are currently in need of Presentation and Q&A judges! This competition is now scheduled as a virtual event.

We are recruiting judges for the deliverables listed below:

  • City Essay - 58 points – Available to be judged from late December 2021/Early January 2022 to Monday 01/17/2022: Students write a 1,500-word essay describing the unique attributes of their future city and their solution to this year's challenge: A Waste-Free Future.
  • City Model Slideshow - 65 points – Available to be judged from late December 2021/Early January 2022 to Monday 01/17/2021: Students build a scale model of their city using recycled materials and including a moving part. Teams may choose to build one model or several segments. Then teams use a provided template to showcase their model via a slideshow.
  • City Presentation Video - 50 points – Available to be judged from Tuesday 01/18/2022 to Saturday 01/22/2022: Students record an up-to-7-minute video presentation about their future city, discussing its features and their solution to the annual challenge.
  • City Q&A - 25 points – Competition held on Saturday 01/22/2022: Students answer questions from judges (experts in engineering, technical, and city design fields) during a 10-minute live session.
