Event Description:

    Harvesters mobilizes the power of our community to create equitable access to nutritious food and address the root causes and impact of hunger. Volunteers serving in Harvesters’ Volunteer Engagement Center (VEC) sort and repack food, which assists Harvesters and its pantry partners in feeding more than 250,000 people each month. 

    Volunteer tasks are assigned based on product availability and project prioritization. 

    • Sorting and boxing nonperishable food
    • Packing fresh produce
    • Sorting and boxing bread
    • Repacking ready-to-eat food and bulk products
      • May include refrigerated or meat products
    • Repacking bulk donations in our Clean Room
    • May include refrigerated or meat products

    Additional Information:

    PLEASE NOTE - NEW HARVESTERS VOLUNTEER POLICIES:

    • Beginning January 1, 2025, Harvesters' required minimum volunteer age for all shifts is 12 years old. All volunteers must meet the minimum age of 12 to volunteer in our warehouse. NO EXCEPTIONS. 
    • All Volunteers ages 12-17 must have a Volunteer Liability Waiver signed in advance by a parent or guardian before they can volunteer. NO EXCEPTIONS.

    Safety First!

    At Harvesters, we believe it is our duty to create a safe, inclusive environment where diverse staff and volunteers feel trusted, valued, and engaged. With a focus on risk management, All volunteers are required to sign Harvesters’ Volunteer Liability Waiver prior to the start of their service with us.

    This can be completed before your volunteer shift by signing into your volunteer account and clicking update volunteer profile information; this form must be renewed every 12 months.  

    • All volunteers are required to wear closed toe shoes with their entire feet covered
    • The temperature in the warehouse can be a bit unpredictable, so dress comfortably in layers
    • Please leave all jewelry and valuables at home, lockers are available onsite, but we do not provide locks 
    • Please ensure you are healthy and free of any contagious illnesses
    • Volunteers are encouraged to bring spill proof reusable water bottles  

    Arrival and Parking  

    Plan to arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior to your shift start time. Parking is limited so carpool when possible. Visitor parking is available in front of the building and in an overflow lot across the street. If spots fill, please limit street parking to the east side (closest to the building). Please enter through the Volunteer Entrance (under the red awning).

    Shift Sign-in  

    When you arrive, you will sign-in electronically on the tablets provided in the volunteer break room or on your mobile device. If you have not signed the liability waiver in advance, you must do so onsite.  

    Facility Tours  

    We are happy to provide tours of our facility, please let our team know in advance if you or your group would like a tour before or after your shift. The team can be reached at getinvolved@harvesters.org.
